Tired of waiting and starting to worry ... {Semi-open}

Midnight
Midnight was a very content cat for the most part. She got a can of tuna every week, plenty of food and water, and a nice clean litter box in the bathroom. It was one of those self cleaning models that washed the litter after every use. She had a nice soft bed with cushions and toys, life was great. Of course, she still missed being a witch. She had liked being a biped and having magic and power. But she was a cat for life now, and she had gotten rather used to it. After all, she had been assigned to Venis. And Venis took magnificent care of her. But at the same time, she never demanded anything from her. If she was in the mood to give affection, she did. If she wanted to go somewhere with Venis, she went. If she wanted to stay home, which was usually the case, she did. It was perfect.So why was it that Midnight was in such a sour mood at the moment? That answer was a simple one. Venis had been gone for too long. Oh Eros was doing great with making sure she had her food every day, and her water stayed clean and cool. He was even remembering her can of tuna once a week. But Midnight hadn't left the room since Venis disappeared that day. Midnight hadn't seen her in so long, and she was starting to worry. Oh she heard things, like when Tasha and Ha'Ruil would come up there and take care of things that were piling up on the desk. Or when Eros would be talking to someone. Or when Manny would come in to get things he needed. But what no one was saying was that Venis was on her way. So why in the sam hell wasn't Venis on her way yet? That was the question Midnight needed answered. And come hell or high water, she was going to find out. After all, if nothing else, she was late for her shots and check up.
So she stood and stretched before hoping down off the dresser in Venis' room. She had been up there because she was still trying to get her paws on that stinky black cowboy hat that Venis had hung on the wall. That stinky werewolf had left it there a long time ago. Well, not there, in their room at the Tel'Ranaemyn Inn. And when they moved, Venis brought it with them and hung it up again. Venis wasn't supposed to have things that belonged to any werewolf other than Gawain. Midnight did not allow it. So she was bound and determined to one day destroy that stinky black cowboy hat. She even had a passing thought of trying to find a way to get Eros or Kahn to throw it out. Or maybe Gawain if need be. But that was neither here nor there today. Today she had something more important to take care of.
So now that she was all stretched out and ready to move, she hopped down from the dresser. She went into the sitting room and then to the kitchen. She ate some of the food in her bowl and then drank some water. Then she moved over to the front door to the room and sat down. She began to make the most shrieking of meows to get Eros' attention. "Mrow, mrow, mrow, mrow, mrow." On and on she would continue. The sound getting louder and higher pitched progressively. And she wouldn't stop until Eros came to let her out of the room. She was a cat on a mission. And nothing was going to stop her now.

He had been sitting at Venis's desk going over some of the paper work that Tasha has ask him to look over. Actually he insisted to help since she was swamped with other things as well, so it was to help her out as much as it was to keep him busy while Venis was away. While going through the paperwork he could hear the meows of Midnight get louder and louder. "What is it Midnight?" He kept going through the papers before it got to the point that he got up and walked over to where she was. "Ok ok I am here whats up?" He looked at her and then the front door. "Ah ok so you want out. Strange request since you do not normally go out but ok. Do not get into any trouble or I will hear it from Venis ok?" He gave out a chuckle as his right hand went to the door nob and gave it a turn before he opened the door just enough for her to get through. "Alright there we go, again behave ok?" He said with a smile as he waited fro her to go through the door. Once she was out he closed the door and shook his head as he went back to the desk and sat down grabbing the papers again. "I hope she going to be ok." talking to no one in particular.

Midnight looked up at Eros as he came over to the door. She was allowed to go out, but she stayed in so often, he wouldn't have known that. Regardless, when he came over to open the door for her, she wound around his ankles and between his legs as she rubbed against him and purred. Yes, the cantankerous diva purred. She made sure to wind her tail around his leg and let it slide free as she walked out the door. She hoped he understood that she was actually thanking him for his help. It wasn't something she did often. But she liked Eros. And he didn't have to stick around while Venis was gone. He scored points with Midnight for that.
Now that she was out of her room, she headed for the stairs. She went down one floor. She went to the first room and reared up on her back two legs. She scratched at the door and made noises wanting in. "Mrow, mrow, mrow, mrow, mrow." She knew that someone had to be in that room to let her in. And if no one was inside, she would surely alert others in the near rooms and one of them would let her in. But she needed to talk to Leviathan. So she had to get in that door.

Leviathan heard the scratching at the door. She knew that soft sound, even though she hadn't heard it in a long time. When Venis and her entourage moved to this Inn, Tasha had made sure to get the door handle changed to their room so that Levi could let herself out. It was a good thing because now she needed to let someone in. She got up off the floor in front of the couch and padded to the door. She rose up on her hind legs and placed her paws against the wall beside the door. Then with one paw, she hit the door handle and pulled the door open so that Midnight could come in.
Once Midnight was inside the door, Levi would get down from the wall and move over to lean against the door and close it. ~What's up Fluffball?~ Midnight hadn't left her room since Venis disappeared and was trapped in her Keep for almost a week. So that made Levi rather curious. What could have brought Midnight out now? She walked towards the kitchenette. There was a bowl of wet cat food in the bottom of the fridge. Levi opened the fridge door and reached in to pull it out. She set it on the floor to offer it to Midnight and closed the fridge. She sat down to see what her little friend needed.

Midnight
Midnight saw the door opening and padded into the room. She waited just inside the door for Levi to close it and then lead the way into the kitchen. She followed along behind her at an almost trot given their considerable size difference. ~Thank you for letting me in.~ Said to the much larger feline as they crossed the room.
When they got into the kitchen, Midnight went to Levi's water bowl and took a drink to be polite. She chose to not eat any of the offered food at the moment. She tilted her head to the left when Levi asked her what was going on. Then she shook her head a couple of times before she responded. ~We missed our Vet appointment.~ Spoken as if that said it all.
She moved so that she was directly across from Levi and far enough back from her that neither of them had to crane their necks. ~Our humans have too much on their plates.~ Leviathan had been around Tasha long enough to understand the meaning of that phrase. ~My human isn't even around. Venis never stays gone like this by choice.~ Midnight really was starting to worry for her human.

Leviathan made a sound in their minds that resembled a sigh. ~And here I was rather liking the idea of missing the vet. Those teeth scrapings hurt. Why are you so worried about going to the Vet? Are you ok? If you're sick we can get you to the vet, one way or another.~ Suddenly, Leviathan was worried for her friend.
She laid down so she could look at the smaller cat eye to eye. ~I'm sure that if there was a problem, Tash would be worried. Well, more worried than she already is. Come to think of it, she is a little more stressed than usual.~ Leviathan couldn't believe that she was just realizing this.
She rose up and moved to get a drink of her water before laying back down. ~Ok, so Venis is missing, Tasha is stressed, and we're missing appointments for it. So what do you propose we do about it?~ Levi knew Midnight well enough to know that she wouldn't be here and talking like this unless she had an idea.

Midnight gave a sound in their minds that sounded like a chuckle. Yet another reason to miss being a 'human'. ~No, no, no. I'm not sick. But I don't very well want to get sick either. Eros is great about taking care of me. He didn't have to. So I don't want to get sick on top of everything else. That would suck for me, and would be very unfair to him.~ She rolled over onto her side dramatically.
She began to purr as she laid there. ~You're not going to like what I have to say about this.~ The purring and the laying on her side like she was were both attempts at being cute so as to butter Levi up. ~I think we should go find Venis ourselves. We can go places the humans can't. We can listen in on conversations that they can't. Everyone is worried about where she could be and what could be wrong. I hear them in my room. So let's go find them some answers.~ Midnight got up off the floor then. She padded over and leaned against Levi. She rubbed against her and purred as if to be begging.

Leviathan blinked slowly in relief. She was glad to hear that Midnight wasn't sick. But the little furry one was right. It would suck if they got sick. And Heaven help Eros if little miss diva there got sick. She was such a baby when she was ill. Not that they ever got ill often. They really were very well cared for and pampered companions.
When Levi saw Midnight roll onto her side, she thought to herself 'Oh great.' She knew Midnight was about to suggest something that she wouldn't like and would most likely get them in trouble. And the purring confirmed that. To which Levi rolled her eyes. It was a very human trait for a feline that was never human for even a minute. Eye rolling wasn't even Levi's only human trait, just her most noticeable one. It was amazing what people's companions picked up from them.
When Leviathan heard what Midnight had to say, she was in shock. ~WHAT!! You want to do what exactly?~ Levi tried to look over her shoulder at the cat that was now rubbing against her. ~Why would we do that? It's crazy. And besides, who would watch over our humans that are still here?~ She, of course, was referring to Ha'Ruil and Eros.
She laid onto her side so that Midnight would have no choice but to stop or fall over. ~And besides, Casie is worried too. So is Inion. Are you planning on inviting Kjay, Croga, and Dia on this little adventure?~ The whole idea was preposterous in Leviathan's opinion. To take off from the Inn to go find Venis. Leaving their charges to fend for themselves. Preposterous indeed.

Leviathan thought about what Midnight said for a moment. A long moment. She felt Midnight move to see if she was even still awake she was thinking so long. But finally, after much deliberation, Leviathan gave in. ~Fine, we will go ask the others to keep an eye on our charges. If they say yes, then we will go. But we are not going too far. And you had bettered keep up. I'm not going to crawl along at a snails pace and coddle you for this little adventure of yours. And there's boundaries. I will not go too far away.~ Though, how far was too far was relative.
Now that Leviathan had agreed to go along, the two of them got up off the floor. Leviathan opened the fridge with her paw, then used her mouth to put the bowl of food back into it. She closed the fridge and they headed for the door. ~Wait. I have to tell Ha'Ruil that we're going out for a while. I don't want him to freak out if he finds us gone. And he'll have to tell Eros that we went out.~ She left Midnight in the sitting room while she went to see if Ha'Ruil was in the bedroom. She hadn't heard him go out, but then again, he didn't answer the door. So maybe he had left to get something to eat or something.

He had been in the shower when Levi let Midnight in that was the reason he did not open the door. Once he was finally done he turned off the shower and put a towel around his waist and was drying his hair with another towel as he walked into the bedroom and seeing Levi there walking around as if looking for something.
"Hey girl."
Is all he said as he walked over to her and leaned down to scratch her behind the ear.
"It looked like you were looking for something."
He walked over to the dress and put out a pair of shorts and shirt before pulling his towel off and putting on said articles of clothing. After that he sat down on the bed.
"Hey girl."

Leviathan heard the shower and could smell Ha'Ruil before he even came out of the bathroom. So she was walking over to sit down and wait for him when he came out and scratched her behind the ears. She purred for him when he did so.
She watched as he walked over to the dresser and got some shorts and a T-shirt on. ~Ha'Ruil, Midnight is suffering from a very serious case of Cabin Fever. Do you know that phrase?~ She waited to see if he knew it. ~She really needs to get out for a while. So I'm taking her. Can you tell Eros for her? We'll be gone for a few days probably. Nothing to worry about, she just needs to get out and run for a while. She really does get restless.~ If he didn't understand Cabin Fever before, he probably did now.
She didn't want to just walk away on him. So she sat there and waited for him to say something. She knew Midnight was getting impatient in the next room. But she wasn't going to just up and bail on Ha'Ruil. He deserved better than that. Levi was sure that if Midnight had thought about it, she would have given Eros the message herself. She was human once, and if she ever bothered to she could still talk, even if it did sound funny. And on top of that, Eros was a God, he could communicate with animals, right? After all, he too deserved better than to just have them disappear out of the blue.

Midnight cocked her head to the side when Ha'Ruil came in and spoke to her about not getting into any trouble. Then she moved her head back and sort of puffed out her chest as to say 'Who me?'. She saw him walk over to the door, and she followed right behind.
Once he had the door open she moved to sit in front of him. She looked up at him and purred. ~Thank you Ha'Ruil.~ Words spoken into the elf's mind by a voice that sounded very old. Midnight spoke so rarely, and it had been forever since she had spoken to anyone other than Venis. Ha'Ruil would most likely hear her, so she didn't waste time trying to make human words with a cat's mouth. After so many years as a cat, it was hard to do anything that human.
Once she thanked him, Midnight walked over and wound herself around Ha'Ruil's ankles just as she had Eros'. Then she padded out the opened door, pausing in the hall to wait for Leviathan. Then they would have to get out to the cottages. They had animals to ask a favor of. And Midnight was not the most patient of felines.
Midnight cocked her head to the side when Ha'Ruil came in and spoke to her about not getting into any trouble. Then she moved her head back and sort of puffed out her chest as to say 'Who me?'. She saw him walk over to the door, and she followed right behind.
Once he had the door open she moved to sit in front of him. She looked up at him and purred. ~Thank you Ha'Ruil.~ Words spoken into the elf's mind by a voice that sounded very old. Midnight spoke so rarely, and it had been forever since she had spoken to anyone other than Venis. Ha'Ruil would most likely hear her, so she didn't waste time trying to make human words with a cat's mouth. After so many years as a cat, it was hard to do anything that human.
Once she thanked him, Midnight walked over and wound herself around Ha'Ruil's ankles just as she had Eros'. Then she padded out the opened door, pausing in the hall to wait for Leviathan. Then they would have to get out to the cottages. They had animals to ask a favor of. And Midnight was not the most patient of felines.

Leviathan walked in to the main room behind Ha'Ruil. She sat and waited while he spoke to Midnight. Then she followed them to the door. When he opened the door, she watched as Midnight stopped and thanked him before she walked out. She was in complete and total shock. Midnight spoke to Ha'Ruil. She never spoke to anyone who wasn't an animal other than Venis, and even that was rare.
Once she was over her shock, she rose to all fours once again and headed for the open door. ~Thanks again Ha'Ruil. I'll keep an eye on her and we will behave.~ She rubbed against his legs and purred before she walked out the door. Then she and Midnight headed for the stairs.
When they got down to the ground floor, they headed for the back door of the Inn. It was always unlocked and Levi could open it. Once they were outside, they headed out into the gardens. It wouldn't take them long to get to Casie's cottage. So they would stop there first.
When they got to Casie's, Levi walked up and smacked her paw against the door. She very much hoped that they were home. If they weren't, she would go see if she could find Croga and Dia first and come back to talk to Kjay. But they were not leaving without speaking to at least one animal to make sure that someone was going to guard the place and the people within.

Kjay must have heard them coming because Cas was about to open the door when Levi banged her paw on the door. Cas jumped back before opening the door. Kjay would have stopped her if there was anything dangerous there. Cas smiled as she saw the felines.
"Well hello you two."
She moved so they could come in. She scratched Levi behind her ears before bending over to pick up Midnight. Kjay rubbed against Levi in an almost cat like fashion. Levi was his best animal friend.

Midnight was a very particular feline. So very few were ever allowed to even pet her, let alone pick her up. But Casie was on the list of those who could. So when Casie lifted her from the floor, she curled up in the woman's arms and began to purr.
She figured she would let Levi talk to Kjay. She knew what to tell him and what to not. Midnight was going to just lay in Casie's arms and purr while she rested her eyes. Maybe a short little cat nap. After all, they had a big adventure before them. She needed to rest while she could.

Levi rubbed her head against Casie's hand as she walked in and was greeted with a scratch behind her ears. Casie had good nails for ear scratches. Then she rubbed against Kjay when he rubbed against her. Ok, so maybe her and Kjay were closer than most feline/canine pairs. But Midnight was still wrong about the whole cross breading thing.
Once she and Kjay had said their hello's, and he asked her if she was ok, she moved farther into the room and laid down where he could join her and they could talk. There she waited for him to join her, but she began to fill him in as he did. ~You know how Midnight gets. She's got cabin fever. And she's all huffy about missing her vet appointment. Like getting our teeth scraped feels good or something. But she says she doesn't want to get sick because of us missing our shots and stuff.~
She rolled onto her side with a bit of a flop and the end of her tail twitched. ~Anyway, she wants to go see if she can find out where Tasha's gone off to. She didn't come home last night and with her being so stressed, Midnight just wants to make sure she's ok. Cas went and sat on the couch with Midnight and continued to stroke her fur as she purred. She had been reading a book but it was sitting on the side table for now.
Kjay followed Levi and laid down. He listened to Levi and made a huffing sound.
~How long have we protected our humans together? I am not that stupid; even I know Tasha went to go see the furball.~
Furball was what they called Gawain. Tasha had gone to go see him after settling the lycans. He looked at Levi.

She looked back at Kjay and tilted her head. ~Kjay ... How are we supposed to track her and find her if she doesn't smell the same? All we know is her scent. If it's different, then we have nothing to go on.~ She righted her head.
She rolled onto her side in Casie's lap. She was trying to be cute. But it wasn't as much for Casie's benefit as it was for Kjay's. ~Is there any way you can go with us? You know her new scent. Kjay looked at Levi and Midnight and growled just a little bit if he was human it may have been a sigh.
~I guess I will have to come with you. Trying to explain how she smells different is not possible. Two days I will give you two days then if we do not find a trace we come home.~

It was a good thing that Midnight didn't hear Kjay's thoughts about her begging. She wasn't begging, just asking nicely. Of course, that was a rarity in and of itself. ~Thank you Kjay.~ What more could she say?
Her tone was calm and level and there was no hint of condescension or anything. She was honestly thanking him for helping them. ~So we need to talk to Ha'Ruil again so he can tell Casie that you're joining us or what?~ She wanted to make sure that no one was going to get in trouble for helping her.

Levi moved to lean against Kjay's side. ~We also need to make sure Croga and Dia can humansit for us. Because if they can't then we can't exactly take off. Someone has to be here to protect them.~ She wasn't trying to be a buzz kill or get out of going, but she refused to leave the human's in their care unguarded.
Then a thought crossed her mind. ~We could also ask Penelope and Willow. Between the four of them, they should be able to keep track of everyone. Those lycan's are a handfull. But the dragons would be better suited to watch them when they hunt.~ Usually she went out with them.

He leaned back into Levi. Cat or not they had grown up together from the time they had been cubs. Sixteen years now it had been. Neither of them was exactly normal. Most animals born around the same time as them would have been considered old. They were both still very strong and very active.
~Asking the dragons to help is a great idea as well. I will talk to Penelope when I go see Ha'Ruil.~
