(Just so it's clear, this picks up after Mael leaves the bar in the thread "Food First" )

4 AM.

Getting his food and drink at the bar along with all the other shit had taken nearly an hour, the rest was loitering and wasting time. His family constantly was accusing him of wasting time. Their time. Like he gave a damn about what they thought, even with all their complaining they never went elsewhere when they needed the job done. They always came to him and since he didn't ask to be in the family and their was no way out of it, the Hell to all of them and their wasted time.

That was elsewhere other than the present. Presently he was walking the stretch of hall away from the bar and towards the door and staircase that would lead to the basement. When he checked in there was mention of a basement, just not what was down there. He was going to find out; and he had company.

Lilac had cashed in on the offer to follow him and even though her steps were virtually sound proof he knew she was there - that scent gave her away. He didn't shake the floor with his walking but he wasn't as light as her either. Like his jacket suggested he had the tread of a military man. A solider. Good posture, even walk, cool demeanor yes, that was him.

"Know what's in the basement?"

It was a probable question. She was behind the bar, working or some such, and that dictated that she knew something of this place. Not everything but she might know a bit more than him at the moment. If she didn't know then they could be clueless together. But even that wouldn't last very long because they reached the entrance, all they had to do now was go down.

If the bar was busy at 3 AM, then maybe someone would be down in the basement. If there was anything more to it than a dark room in the ground.

Why wouldn't she of followed BLT out of the bar? The men that worked there seemed at first eager to push her aside when she was just trying to be helpful, though they did end up giving her payment for her assistance, confusing yet she took it and smiled too! Kyra looked lost in thought, and Az didn't want to disturb the girl, she didn't know her well enough yet. The two fairy ladies hardly seemed as if they would miss her. So she went.

Besides this girl had a natural curiousity. She did not think anything surprising would happen back at the bar. Now not knowing what this mission was that she was following him on, that piqued it up a notch or two. If she wished for the scent of lilac's to disapear it could, and she had masked it before when she was spying, not that she would admit to such a thing. As it was, she would wait to see if that would be needed or not, for the scent was not overpowering just rather faint. She was just glad her natural scent wasn't that of rotting garbage!

When he spoke, she thought a moment, before a tugging grin formed. "Honestly I don't have a clue." She dropped her voice just a bit, honesty, would come out. "When I entered the bar this am was the first time I've been inside the walls here." She gave a lift of shoulders, she thought he might of guessed something, and there was no reason not to be truthful.

She would pause as they reached the doorway, she would follow him down of course, she was a rather curious creature. Though before he even got the door opened she would speak once more. "Hopefully they have a lights down there." Not that they couldn't get candles or flashlights, it would just save time if it had electrial lights in the basement. And she was now wondering what they kept down there. Some buildings that seemed to have lights through out seemed to forget the basement she had learned the hard way a time or two.

So . . . what's in the basement? {open} Empty Re: So . . . what's in the basement? {open}

Currious things basements. They are always filled with sounds and smells of all sorts. Some more haunting than others. Such was the case this early morn. As the pair of investigators headed down the stairs they would find the lighting to be soft yet suitable. They could easily view their chosen path. They would find the steps to be in good repair, not a creak in the lot. They handrail would be smoothly sanded to prevent splinters. It would be a calming descent.

Perhaps before, perhaps after, reaching the floor at the bottom of the stair, a faint sound could be heard. It was the sound of glass hitting glass. *Clink ... Clink ... Clink.* What could possibly be making such an ominous sound? For the answer to that question, the curious pair would have to follow their ears and search it out. *Clink ... Clink ... Clink.* The sound would continue. And if they chose to go in the right direction, they would undoubtedly find it's source.

But there was more in this basement than that one sound. If one listened closely, they could hear the faintest sound of moving water. It would be hard to hear, it takes paying close attention and remaining silent. But it was there. *Ssllloooooosssshhhhhh ... Sssllllllooooooooossssssshhhhhh." Perhaps there was some water running near by? Perhaps there was a body of water occupied by something alive? These questions could only be answered by checking.

For those with a strong sense of smell, there would be a sulfuric sting in the air. The scent of fire's burning perhaps? The scent would permiate the air and could cause the slightest tickle of the nostrils. The only way to find the source of this smell would be to pick the right direction to go. But one should be made aware that the closer they got to the source the stronger the scent would become. Perhaps it was merely a furnice, perhaps the Inn was ablaze?

But there would be more doors than there would be sounds and smells. So it was up to them to figure out which direction to go first, and which area to explore. Perhaps as they move through there will me more sounds and smells uncovered. One could never tell unless they set out in exploration. So which way would our traveling pair go? What would they discover along the way? Perhaps they will find the sources of all the sounds and smells.

At least it wasn't empty.

How disappointing - and utterly mundane - would it have been if they had come all the way down here to find nothing but dim lights and crates of stored food and supplies. Though in a place like this something as plain as that would have been suspect. An old man and his grandkid, in a large Inn that happened to be in the middle of nowhere with nothing in the basement but crates. Right. Not suspect at all.

"Afraid of the dark?" The question was posed to Lilac after she made her remark about light. Either he hadn't thought about it, or whether there was light or not didn't matter to him. The actual reason would not be discovered tonight because when he turned the knob and opened the door there was light. "And then there was light."

And a smooth handrail. Calming to some, not to others. The fact that it was smooth told him that the basement was meant to be used and visited by more than the owners. It had that accommodating feel as though it was meant to be used by people coming and going. So the basement wasn't a desolate place. Unless they liked to waste electricity the light meant that someone (or something) was down there. Sure, it could have been a motion sensor light but everything else going on at the base gave credence to the first option.

He took the steps one at a time, no need to go fast, and when he reached the bottom he stopped. Simply stopped and stood there leaving enough room for Lilac to get by and not be stuck on the step. Guess he was lucky that the person with him wasn't a heavy treader as it let him hear the sounds . . . better. Distance or faint sounds were hard things to put a finger for many people when it came to figuring out their direction, but it was something he did. Wasn't born with it, something he was trained in many years ago. So now they had options.

Most likely the *Clinking* sound was coming from weights of a sort and that meant there was a gym in that direction. The *slosh*, water. Perhaps a pool and someone was doing even laps by the spacing of each sound - those were strokes in an out of the water. Sulfur meant steam. Hot spring, volcanic rocks, ect.. He could always be wrong though he was able to smell it despite the smell of lilacs. The place certainly wasn't burning down and if it was then the all the food in the kitchen will have that lovely smokey taste.

Good thing he already ate.

Just the same, he went towards the smell. If someone was there then they were either silent or not yet able to be heard. "Watch your nose."

If the basement had been empty that would of seemed rather strange. A empty basement in the Inn would of made Az think that they were hiding something, and a super sleuthing Az could be trouble. With a capital TROUB. Even though she still had not met the Inn keeper or his grandson, for she was not checking in, and her time here was mostly outside. Az had a fondness for the outdoors. Still snuck away time from time from the Inn she did reside at to sleep outdoors or at her cave.

She let out a laugh, "Not so much afraid of the dark but what goes bump in the dark. And the fact I am a total klutz and it would be a miracle for us to make it down the stairs standing." She wasn't trying to cute or coy, or flirty, she was just telling him like it was. The girl was rather graceful until something snuck out or the ground wasn't flat. If she was actually walking, it was dangerous. Then he opened the door, and she could of saved her breath for there was that dim light. It was his words that got a grin, there was a few things she could of said, but she said none of them. A mere, "Whew." Would escape. Nothing personal but having just met him, she didn't want to go tumbling in a ball down the stairs with a stranger. Well...that did sound slightly appealing but not right now.

After BLT made his way down a few steps, she would follow, going slowly as well. Hand would rest lightly upon the top of the smooth railing, just in case she missed a step and needed to catch it. As it was, with the light, she was able to look down at the stairs, though she wasn't staring at them. Just in case he happened to look back. A girl did not want her flaws to be flaunted to a someone that they barely knew. Once they reached the bottom, she would slip up next to him, in the area he allowed.

He was not alone in having good hearing, though we won't get into why she heard all the sounds that were going on in the basement. Nor was she piping up about any of the sounds, or scents that would attack her senses. Her nose wrinkled just a bit upon getting a few of the scents, letting her eyes close a moment, adjusting. This was not persay her mission she was just along for the ride, and to be curious, about the Inn and BLT. She would move a step or two behind him, not because she was using him as a shield but it kept her out of his way, in case he had to turn quickly for some random reason. Randomly she would peek around him, letting her baby blues look over the area with obvious curiosity. A laugh, "Already caught the scent."

Thank God she wasn't the type of follower that clung to the person in front of them. If she were then their venture together would have been very short lived. When some people followed others they made an annoying second skin where if you breathed you pushed against the person following.

No worry of that here. Though she was a self-proclaimed klutz she was not tripping on purpose for sake of pressing on him. Nice. A droll smirk came to his mouth but she couldn't see it since she was a couple steps behind him and he wasn't turning his head around. "Nothing in the dark that's not there in the light." A partial turn of his head to acknowledge her. The look did not last long, they were walking and there was really no telling ho long this basement was or what else there was to it. All the had to go on was a direction and the scent.

"The darkness opens our eyes to what is shielded in the light."

He wasn't a philosopher, it was his way of thinking that had been made so by seeing the proof of it. Not everyone agreed.

How much further until they reached. . . something. The basement could expand out the entire breath of the Inn, or even the hill base, and if that were the case they would be on this path for a while. Good thing he wasn't pressed for time. Bearing that in mind his stance relaxed by a notch with the barest slump in his shoulders.

Ah yes, follow your nose it always knows. At least that's what the tucan always says. So our pair of advernturers did just that. They headed for the scent first. In the direction they were going they would see a pair of double doors on their right. And of those two doors, only the door on the right would have a handle for opening it. Then it would be some space down that path where they would find a single door on their left. Now every floor in this Inn would have the same door on it. And they were all unmarked. And further along the path, they would find a secon set of double doors. And once again, only the door on the right wouldhave a handle for opening it.

The lighting was a little brighter than the stairwell. The floor was freshly swept and free of debree and obsticals. The doors were all the same color, size, shape, and unmarked. Perhaps an oversite, or perhaps a way of letting people discover things on their own? Either way, which ever door the pair chose to open they would find something inside. The quesion of what could only be answered by looking to see. And that faint, slightly sulferic scent? That would grow stronger as they went along. But it would pick up other properties as well. Perhaps because of what it was? So which door do they open first? And are there any other scents or sounds to be picked up when the doors are opened? Let's see shall we?

Oh heavens those sort of adventuring partners annoyed her. Yes she did get annoyed and sometimes she even voiced that annoyance. When one was exploring you needed to be able to move, not have to think twice before a movement or worry that you were going to be hampered in some way, shape or form. She had many adventures under her belt, she knew that score.

Of course, he had a point with his words, but she was curious. "Are you not better able to handle something about to attack you if you can see it?" She did not know if he was good with sensing things. Some people saw very well in the dark, she normally had pretty good night vision, but they did not need that and she wasn't speaking up on it. Some people also could sense things, that others could not see, Az did not put anything past anyone until it was tested and found out.

After they had walked a bit, Az let out a sneeze. It was actually dainty, not some loud sneeze, so if anyone was in the basement with them, they might not of even heard it. It was something in the air, had her nose itching. Not wishing to distrubt what BLT was thinking, she would reach into the pocket of her gown, it had one you just had to know where it was, and pulled out a lilac colored hankie, which she lifted and pressed to her nose. She had delicate sensiblitlies.

It would be then that baby blues landed on the doors, and she would speak softly, "Which door do you think we should look in first? It doesn't seem like any of them really stand out in appareances."

Not only did she smell like lilacs but she had a handkerchief that was the color of them. How fitting. He supposed it only made sense when thought about from the female perspective. They were the ones that made sure their accessories matched from the earrings in their ears to the paint on toe nails unseen always something about matching and therefore he wasn’t surprised when he saw what she pulled out.

“Suggesting that we’ll be attacked?”

Wouldn’t that be something, attacked in the basement of an ancient looking Japanese castle. How could it not be expected? It was. At least he wasn’t going to be surprised it that’s how things turned out. And, with all those damn unmarked doors in the basement the possibility of being attacked didn't seem to far fetched.

Why the hell were all the doors unmarked? Maybe people were not suppose to go in them or they wanted the visitors to play a game of musical doors, opening one and then another until they finally came upon the one they needed. Yeah, he wasn't going to play that game. It made him wonder about his own door. He'd know where his door was even if it was devoid of even something so simple as a room number. But if he went walking down his hall and saw that all the doors were the same and unmarked then sure as Hell Mael was going to mark his door.

Buck the system.

"I'm opening this one." Raised his hand to indicate the door that the sulfur smell occupied. She could start opening other doors if she wanted to, no skin off his back.

Push. Pull. Twist. However the door opened he was doing it.

So . . . what's in the basement? {open} Empty Re: So . . . what's in the basement? {open}

Post by Venis Jordianthan Thu Sep 24, 2009 4:03 am

So to what would his wondering eyes should appear, as he opened the second pair of double doors that was near the end of the hall? Well, the room was a large space. It was almost void of furniture. There were some places to sit. Some sparing dummies over in the far back right corner. Various weapons upon the walls, both decorative and battle worthy. The later being within reach, the former being higher.

Along the wall to the left could be seen a couple of folding tables. There were some mats up against the wall. A larger mat in the big middle of the floor. It was your typical, run of the mill, sparing area. Save for a few little things. Floating around the room were four targets. They were the size of three foot trampolines. They were clearly marked as targets though. The seemed to be randomly moving around the room in all directions.

They looked just like those little three foot trampolines, right down to the springs that secured the canvas center to the rounded metal bar. Only, they had no legs. They seemed to glisten as if they were moist. And in the center of this room could be seen almost eight feet of red spiral curls. Only six feet four inches of this hair reached upwards, the rest dragged the ground behind the body that it belonged to.

There was a ball of fire flying through the air headed for one of those floating targets. It hit the target, just slightly off center. There was a splashing as it made contact. And what bounced off of the target was a dark colored ball that was no longer ablaze. And it was heading right for the head of the person who had all that long red hair. If anyone wondered why it was so long, she hadn't cut it in about a year or more.

The sound of that door being pulled open by the flat handle that was on the outside of it, distracted the red-head just long enough that she had to dodge the ball coming at her head. Now this ball, it was about the size of a soccer ball, maybe a little smaller. But it wasn't exactly a ball you wanted to hit with your head. So as the woman went down into the splits to avoid the ball one could see that she was wearing black leather.

Motor cycle boots with a two inch heel on them adorned her feet. They were Harley Davidson of course. Those feet were at the base of some very long leather clad legs. And when the woman turned around to see where the ball was headed, it would become known that she wore a black leather top as well. Ice blue eyes went from the ball to the reason for the sound. Then crimson lips would part and a melodic voice would ring out.

"Oh Shit." She would raise her hand from her position upon the floor with one leg in front of her, the other behind. She hadn't had the chance to get up before she acted. Her bare hand would come upwards with her palm flat, facing the door. Some of her hair would move as a warm breeze picked up and with a heat flash, the ball would hit. But not hit anyone who was standing at the now open door. No, an invisible wall of solid heat.

Once the ball hit the wall, it would crumble into a powder and fall upon the floor. The room was littered with these piles. All along the walls and by the door. And even more of them around the area where the tall red-head was now standing up from. Once she was upright, she was six foot four. Six two in her stocking feet. Her ice blue eyes were surrounded by dark make up and her lips were blood red. She offered up a smile.

The air over by the door cooled as the wall crumbled. She hadn't been holding it there anymore. She started to walk over to her new company. "I'm so sorry about that. Not many are up at this hour, or even headed down here." As she walked, her strut of one foot in front of the other, looked as though it belonged upon a runway. Once upon a time it had, for a minute. With her hair dragging the floor behind her she stopped.

A hand was extended to the man in the doorway. "I'm Venis." Short introduction, most who were up at this hour weren't the get to know you this instant type. So longer introductions would come later, upon request. She looked to see if the presence in the hall was headed in here or to the other room. If she came in here, would she recognize the red-head from their past? It was a good question, worth a bit of a wait.

She wasn't sure if they were down here to spar or just explore. "I was about done, but if you guys want the room for a spar or something ..." She was more than willing to clear out. And yes, she did say or something. The stories people could tell about what her and her husband did in a sparing arena once. All that aside. She held out her hand and a red ball came towards it from the left corner of the room that would be by the doors.

"I was just getting in some target practice." The ball looked to be made of the same materials that are found on the end of a match stick. The ball burst into flames in the palm of her hand. It looked as though her whole hand was on fire. Yet the polish on her long nails wasn't even melting or chipping. She turned and threw the ball at a target. When it hit, it was a little to the right, but it was still extinguished before it flew back at her.

She spun around and kicked high. The heel of her boot made contact and the ball exploded. Then she looked over at the corner. "That was my last one anyway. I was going to have to make some more." She waited to see if Azlin was going to join them or walk away. If she was going to see her or even sense her. She hadn't seen Az since before her abduction. When Seleen told her of a woman named Az, she knew though.

But Az was staying at the other Inn. Maybe this guy was a friend of hers that she was visiting or something. But that didn't matter. She was just going to wait and see if the guy wanted the room and if Az was going to realize who was standing there within the room. Venis wouldn't be upset if Az didn't recognize her though. There were other God's of Rhy'Din whom Venis didn't remember either. It came with the territory.

So . . . what's in the basement? {open} Empty Re: So . . . what's in the basement? {open}

Post by ~*~ Azlin Zoi ~*~ Sat Sep 26, 2009 8:37 pm

She never had thought about the fact that she matched so many things, but if she thought about it, it would all come clear. But she wasn’t going to start thinking on that, she wanted her senses to be as sharp as possible. She gave a small shrug that he probably did not see as she spoke. “One must always be prepared for the unexpected.” Really who would think that exploring a inn’s basement would bring a real adventure! Little known fact was Azlin always had a dagger strapped to her upper thigh, if the dagger did have to get pulled out, it might cause a smirk for the dagger’s handle had a black leather wrapping with a strand of lilac dyed leather amongst the blackness. But we aren’t going to go into describing something that no one was going to see at the moment, we will save that for a later time, maybe.

She had thought about opening another door, and she had took a step in the direction towards a different door, but she stopped and turned back to follow BLT. If they were going to get attacked in the basement by a unknown beast behind the door he was opening, it might be best if they stayed together, easier to fight off the beasts in one room before opening a door and letting other beasts out. So when he opened the door to see what was inside, she was a small distance behind him, up on tip toes peeking in with those curious baby blues. She could not help but be curiou s and she was also watching to see if she needed to get ready to guard his back.

And she would hear a voice coming out of the room, though that voice did not sound familiar at all to the woman. So even if she sensed something coming from the woman, Az did not put two and two together to figure out whom it was. Az would actually follow BLT in if he walks in, if he doesn’t she would pipe up from behind him. “Or something…” There was a hint of teasing in her voice, which she hoped he would pick up, if he didn’t well, they would cross that bridge when they got there.

As for recognizing Venis, that would be almost impossible, for she never had actually met her. That makes things more difficult. She might of heard of Venis in passing, but actually meeting and speaking or seeing the woman, that was a whole other story. Azlin hadn’t even know what Gods of Rhydin was, or whom they were, even if she was one, it was the oddest of things! And it was true, Azlin stayed at the other inn, because well she had her reasons.

So . . . what's in the basement? {open} Empty Re: So . . . what's in the basement? {open}

Post by Mael Feu Sun Sep 27, 2009 2:15 pm

This is how it goes.
"...it could be raining." Cue the rain.
"...at least we still have power." Sparks fly, electricity goes out.
"...suggesting we'll be attacked?" Didn't see that one coming...

Someone had read the script.

He wasn't dumb, he knew that something burning was behind the door he was going to open but what he didn't know was that he was going to be marked as the next target. Door opened and Mael took in a quick second survey of the room before he saw the ball of fire (it lacked the smell of a fireball, instead smelled like something was being burnt) shooting towards him.

The situation would have went over differently if he had been alone, but he wasn't. Lilac here was along for the ride and in an off-shoot way that made her his responsiblity. Couldn't have her burning to a crisp, people typically asked questions about what happened and all that shit after those incidences. He wasn't all to keen on being questioned.

Hand rose, fingers together and directioned for one of the stripes on his shirt and then....nothing. Nothing more needed to happen on his end concerning that ball because Red had handeled it. Never get to know what Mael would have done. What he didn't do was panic, go into any type of shock or flinch. No. He only stayed where he was when he opened the door.

Red made her apology and started talking on other things, that probably was about the time that Lilac came up behind him.

"Your aim's off." He said. Venis had a look like she knew the person behind him but he didn't pay it too much mind and instead looked at the dummies. "It's not because the door distracted you." Even if he thought that was the reason. Hell, a door opening shouldn't distract anyone from their focus  of sparring if they were any good at it. Perhaps she was a novice fighter with her fire abilities and that's why the ball had hurled towards the door. She was taken by surprise. What other reason could there be? If she took pleasure out of hurling things at people she wouldn't have stopped the ball.

As he turned to leave the room he tossed the first two fingers on his right hand up in a slanted 'V' sign.

"Later." She was lucky. That's more recognition than many got.

No reason to stick by. The girls looked ready to talk and he'd help them and step out of it. There were more doors.

So . . . what's in the basement? {open} Empty Re: So . . . what's in the basement? {open}

Her aim was off. But she was by no means a novice. No, she was just severely out of practice after spending so many years in a coma. But that was another story for another time wasn't it? And that would be the reason for her being in a sparing area throwing her balls of fire at targets. Luckily, the targets put out the flames, made them a little less dangerous just in case she hadn't blocked them in time.

As for getting distracted ... Well, she was the Goddess of Fire and Protection. A being enters a room where there's live flames flying around and instinct it to protect them. So of course she did what she was supposed to do. She needed the break anyway. She was getting too focused, and yes, there is such a thing. When you get too focused you loose sight of your surroundings. People could get hurt.

Now, as far as Azlin not recognizing her, that was no big deal. She hadn't seen Azlin at any meetings for the God's of Rhy'Din. She wasn't sure if she had been to the hall or not. But her picture hung there once upon a time. So if Azlin had never gone to the hall at all, she would have never seen Venis' picture there so there would be no recognition. And not all God's could sense other God's either.

But there was one thing that couldn't be skipped over. Azlin's joke. It made Venis smile and even chuckle slightly. 'Or something', yea, Venis had been there. But Mr. All Business seemed like he wasn't the 'or something' type, not in public anyway. But the joke was still funny. And the smile made Venis' ice blues sparkle. Though, the jocularity ended there, or so it seemed at least.

The conversation moved on after that. Because that was when Mr. All Business pointed out that her aim was off. She wasn't going to get all offended and in a huff about it. It was the truth. And, as was previously stated, the reason she was down here. "Maybe you'd like to give me a hand working on it some time. I love a good spar." She would make sure that she knew more first though.

Her comment had ended up being addressed to the back of his head as he had thrown her a peace sign and headed out the door. Which was fine, if he wanted to go it was of no concern to her. At least he'd said later. That was more than she got at the end of most phone calls these days. "Late." Yes, a shorter version of his goodbye. Then her attention was on Az to see if she stayed or left.

Goddess of Protection. If he knew that was her title and her reason for stopping the flaming ball he would have wondered why she was engaging in 'dangerous' target practice in an unlocked room that anyone could enter. Put them at risk and toss off her aim. Might have been better to do that sort of thing in isolation. Whatever you know? People did their shit their own way.

Just like him.

He had already turn to go, even took a few steps, when he heard Venis come forth with the offer for a future spar. Work out. Practice session. Bout. "I don't toss flaming balls." He didn't and that was the answer he gave in place of a yes or a no. Because he said that he didn't do something never meant that he couldn't if he wanted, it only was something he didn't do. People could screw a person every night but it didn't mean that they did.

Mael stopped at Lilac's side even though he was facing the other direction. Stopped back enough to be able to see her. "You coming with are staying to talk?"

((Sorry...its short but I wanted to get something up. >.<))

Now Az was trying to figure stuff out, but what wasn't on her mind was if she was going to stay and chat or follow BLT. She didnt have to think about that. She would look over to him, "I'm coming with!" She did not mean anything against anyone, she just knew that they were exploring and she wasn't going to let him go it alone, she signed on for this, and this is what she wanted to. "We need to see what else we can find down here." And with that she would wave to the one in the room, before turning to follow BLT.

Well if he had asked, she would have told him that she was engaging in such dangerous activities in an easily accessible room because there weren't usually others around at this time of the morning. The things that go bump in the night were usually done bumping and headed for their dark spaces. And those who were not so nocturnal weren't usually up yet. She figured she wouldn't be bothered.

The whole purpose behind the target practice was because she had been away from suck activities for so many years and was trying to resharpen her skills. So it was actually beneficial to her that they opened the door. It gave her a chance to test her reflexes and her senses. She should have sensed their approach, so she needed to work on that. But the reflexes were good. At least it seemed like it.

But he didn't ask her all that. But he did offer up a tasty little tidbit of information. He told her that he didn't toss flaming balls. She noticed his choice of phrasing. She caught the don't rather than can't. Which made her smile. Because maybe he could, which would make him a worthy opponent. So her reply was simple. "Then I just won't toss them at you." She smiled again as he walked away.

She waved at Azlin as the two of them left. Then she turned around and started to bring the targets down. She used a gust of wind to clean up the mess. After all, she had to leave the place as she'd found it. She couldn't help but remain curious of her unexpected visitor though. He seemed human, but she could be wrong. And he did say didn't rather than couldn't, so maybe there was something else.

Nothing wrong with being human if that's what your current state happened to be. He knew a handful of right ole chaps. Whether he was human or not those people didn't have a problem with him and he didn't have a problem with them. That's how it worked.

He had already said bye to Venis so there was no need to do so again and thats why after Lilac said she was coming he simply started walking again. Once you said bye to a person if you commented to their lat comment they'd likely respond to yours just to be the one who had the last word. Make a person think that being last was a grand prize.

Nothing else was said from him until the door to that room was closed. He was headed back in the direction they had come. "I wouldn't have let the ball of fire hit you." Mael didn't look at her when he spoke; kept a steady forward face and a nonchalant tone.

"From the makes of it the basement is a physical arena, the other sounds from other people conditioning in those areas. I don't care to have more people ask me to train with them so unless you want to check out the other sounds or want an escort somewhere I'll be heading to my quarters." Nothing saying that she wasn't damn well capable of exploring the basement by herself and going wherever she wanted to on her own, but since he had taken her from the bar after her shift and she followed him all the way down here he'd figure to offer services.

Ahh, but there was more to the basement than just physical training. Granted there was the sparing area that they had just left. And one could assume that a gym was in the vacinity as well. After all, it made sense. But those two rooms would not account for the sound of water gently sloshing or the sound of glass hitting glass. If that was what those sounds were to begin with.

So perhaps the adveturers had more to discover. Or were they going to leave the rest of the basement for someone else to explore? After all, there were others in the Inn. Some who might even find a need to explore as well. But these two were the ones who were present. These two were the ones who had scratched that itch first. Had their itch subsided? Or did they need to scratch a little more?
