Branches slapped at the pair of bodies as Tasha carried De'Ryanna through the woods.  The heavy foliage seemed to part for her of it's own accord.  She ran as fast as two legs could carry her with the added dead weight of De'Ryanna. Everywhere she could have gone would have been a downward slope.  That was unavoidable.  But what she did have a choice of was the degree of the slope.  She chose the path of least depth and resistance.  To take this path, she first needed to head South to a degree.  Then she turned slightly East.  From there is was more South by South-East.

She could see the other hills and mountains up ahead.  There were caves in those mountains.  But there were also great waterfalls.  Waterfalls much like the one in the gardens of the Inn where Seleen and Shuda had gotten married. The only difference being that these waterfalls were not a part of the Inn.  It was quite the distance from the Inn in fact.  Closer to the Tel'Ranaemyn Inn than the Starry Myst.  Which was why Tasha had known about them.  This was not the part of Rhy'Din she had been born and raised in.  Had it not been for a year spent at the Tel, she would have never known of these caves and waterfalls in these woods.

She came upon the clearing and moved off towards one of the waterfalls with a larger pool at it's base.  She was still running at top speed.  But she was thankful for being almost to her destination.  The extra weight was beginning to make itself known to her body.  And she was still chilled to the bone from being submerged in that tub of cold water.  But none of those things stopped her when she reached the pool.  She ran right into the water until she was chest deep.  This put De'Ryanna mostly in the water.  Only her head and knees remained in the open of the air.

Tasha stood for a brief moment, working to catch her breath.  The water was cold, something she wished she could change.  Once she had her breath about her, she turned in the water and walked back towards the water's edge.  She lowered herself to her knees and laid De'Ryanna's body upon the shore.  She made sure that her head would not get water on it, but most of her body laid within the cold wetness that was being continuously fed by the rushing rain of the waterfall.

She could hear movement off in the distance.  Rapid movement through the trees and shrubbery of the woods.  One biped and one quadruped.  Seleen and Leviathan.  Who else would the pair be?  Tasha changed forms one more time.  She shed her fur as her skin broke through the flesh of the cat.  Her face reformed and became human once more.  Her claws retracted as her hands took on more human characteristics as well. She sat there, waist deep in the water, naked to the world, and human once more.  It was only then that she began to once again squeeze the blue bubble of the face mask upon De'Ryanna's face.  Willing her to breathe once more.

Knowing that the pair who she had asked to be sent after her were close, she chose this moment to shout out. "Alright, I did what you wanted.  Now give her back.  Human and beast, give her back.  I got her to where the water meets the tundra.  She should no longer be dead."  She checked for a pulse as she continued to let the mask breathe for De'Ryanna.  She squeezed the big blue bulb in a slow and steady rhythm, checking for a pulse every few squeezes.  "Come on De'Ryanna.  Breathe." Whispered to the body that lay before her.  That would be how Seleen and Leviathan (and anyone else who happened along) would find them when they got there.  Just two naked women in the water, one trying to get the other one to breathe again.

The only reason that Benjamin could keep an eye on what was going on around De'Ryanna after he had killed her was because things were taking place around her body. Once something was his he could do with it as he saw fit - she should be grateful that he didn't enact these rights whenever he wanted. Things were sweeter when the prey was willing.

He saw what was going on by translation of the sounds into shapes and pictures - it helped that he also knew the area. There were sounds everywhere and the technique was similar to the sonar of bats.  Tuning himself to all the sounds and their directions, when you were not in the same plane and were listening through a conduit, took many years to grasp and even now he wouldn't say it was perfect.  It was enough to aid his planer crossing and other things he may need.

Seeing what Tasha did to De'Ryanna made Benjamin growl. "Do you only hear what you want to hear, cat?" Benjamin's voice came through on the winds, the malice in his voice was clear. He was nowhere to be seen though his presence was all around the area. "I said to bring her to where water meets the earth and unbound in any way. The piece over her mouth will keep her down.  Take it off, and move away."

He did not want to have her hovering over De'Ryanna's body, or touching the girl.  Tasha may think whatever she wished of Benjamin's demands but on some things he would not compromise.

Seleen was nearing the clearing, with Leviathan not far behind her, when she too heard the voice on the winds.  She hissed as she put an extra burst of speed into her last few yards to her destination.  She hit the clearing and slowed as she saw Tasha up ahead.

She came to a running stop as she saw Tasha knelt over the body in the water.  Both cloaks were dropped to the ground at her feet, forgotten.  She drew both of her hand guns and pointed them out to either side of her body.  She didn't slide bullets into the chambers yet, she didn't want to be that close to firing and accidentally shoot the wrong being.  She was quick enough to cock the guns and shoot before almost anything could get near them.

She was turning in a slow circle, surveying the surrounding area.
"Who was that voice, it sounded familiar? What's going on?" She saw Leviathan break into the clearing and barely twitched at the movement.  She ignored the cat going back to her task of watching the area as she waited for an explanation from Tasha.  She wasn't seeing anything out there for her to shoot. But she had heard the voice.  So she wasn't going to stop watching Tasha and De'Ryanna's backs until she knew they were safe.

Tasha could smell Seleen now, she was almost here.  Leviathan was with her, though a few yards behind her.  She heard Benjamin's voice as it seemed to surround her.  The growl was unmistakable.  He was angry.  But Tasha honestly did not care.  She had done what he wanted. She was just about to fire back with a quip when he spoke again.

She growled in response and hit her fist upon the ground.  Had she gone to the beach, that would have been soft sand.  Here, it was not as soft.  But she didn't care. "It's the only thing giving her lungs oxygen damnit." She checked for a pulse one more time and then growled again as she undid the Velcro strap.  She lifted De'Ryanna's head and removed the mask, mumbling under her breath as she did so. "I don't know why I'm trusting that you have honor and will keep your word." Then she rose to her feet and stepped back until there was about three feet between the two.

As she stood there, only ankle deep in the water, she answered Seleen's questions. "The voice is that nasty damned wolf Venis wants to bed.  He's chosen to take De'Ryanna's life unless we all tow the line for him. He damned near killed me in the process." She rubbed her arms because she was a bit chilly.  But she wasn't ready to go for a cloak yet.  That could wait until she was sure that she wouldn't be doing anything else that could ruin the cloak.

What she really wanted to do was give Seleen the order to shoot him on sight.  But at this point, she wasn't even sure he was corporeal in this plane of existence.   "Fine, are you happy now?  Now give her back to us.  The way she's supposed to be. Not as some beast with murderous intent." Now all she could do was wait, and hope that he kept his word.  Oh, and hope that the life he gave back was not still some raging feral beast hell bent on killing her.  Because if that happened, it would be all for nothing.  Seleen would shoot her.

To save a life (Open to those with a reason to be in that area) Empty Re: To save a life (Open to those with a reason to be in that area)

He didn't waste any time thinking about why someone would want to give air to a corpse.  Clearly she had no idea of what Benjamin could do and thought that pumping air into a dead body was doing some good. She must have thought that the girl was still, somehow, alive.
"A beast with murderous intent is what she is.  Who are you to change that?" The question was put forth with all the sincerity of a snake.

Now the area around De'Ryanna's body - a radius of the three feet of space that Tasha had given - grew still, not even the water rippled or wind passed through. Darkened wisps of shadows gathered around the lifeless body, taking up possession around the torso and legs and lifted her up until her body was out of the water.  The wisps then took on the solitary form of a tall and dark man.

He turned so that his countenance was not seen by Tasha and whomever else may be watching from that side. Drops of water trickled down his bare back, following the paths laid out by scars. There was sadness on the mans face, as well as grief.  Those were two emotions that did not show through in his words. He moved De'Ryanna further from Tasha. "If you value your life, you will stay."

Once Benjamin had increased the distance to twenty feet he stopped. The truth was that he did not want to give De'Ryanna back if things were going to return to how they were. Benjamin was angry at himself.  Angry that he allowed himself to show De'Ryanna compassion and released her of his stronghold. All of this could have been avoided if he had not been so empathic to her needs. He would not make that mistake this time.

Benjamin embraced De'Ryanna tightly and rested his forehead against her own. The eternal heat that his own body possessed would have burned her if she were alive and he was holding her as such. It was one of the reasons he never did, but now there were no such restrictions and he let himself steal a few moments. Once Benjamin took a soul it became a part of him.  All of the persons thoughts, memories, habits and abilities, lifespan, everything they were all a part of him.

To do what they wanted, what he said that he would do, Benjamin would have to give a part of himself. He knew what this would do to him and he was prepared for it. As for De'Ryanna, he would not be able to sever their connection as easily as the last one.

Benjamin pushed back the wet hair from De'Ryanna's face and brushed off the water. He placed his hand over her heart and closed his eyes. Then he opened his mouth and the words came forth in a dark tune. "Ic āgiefe min feorh tō þū"

When he finished talking a fire colored aura covered both Benjamin and De'Ryanna.  He carried her over to the ground and laid her there - for Tasha to see, but he was not done.  Benjamin climbed out of the water and knelt besides the body.  He traced the chain marking that was around her waist and it vanished - she wouldn't need that anymore. Then Benjamin placed his hand over De'Ryanna's heart and the aura which was around him traveled from him, along his arm, and to the girl.  The process did not take long and soon Benjamin's light was gone and De'Ryanna shone upon the forest floor.

Before he rose, Benjamin leaned forward and kissed her, blowing his life into her being. Now he let her go, and stood, still keeping his face from those watching. "Do not touch her until the light goes out," was his warning, though the voice held a tinge of pain. Just in case it needed further clarification he added. "No one do anything to her until the light around her goes out."  Why?  He would leave that out; it wasn't in his taste to revel all.

To save a life (Open to those with a reason to be in that area) Empty Re: To save a life (Open to those with a reason to be in that area)

Post by Tasha Masterson Thu Nov 14, 2013 6:18 pm

Tasha very much did not care for Benjamin's tone.  Or his comment for that matter. "She's more than that and you know it.  She's also a human being." She was repeatedly balling her fists and releasing them slowly.  She watched as a humanoid figure began to form and lift De'Ryanna from the ground.

As she gazed upon his form, she could understand why Venis was attracted to him.  But knowing what she did about him, which was as little as possible yet still enough to know better than to want to be his friend, she didn't understand why Venis was even entertaining her carnal desires.  In her opinion, Venis should just walk away and never look back towards that man.  But Tasha knew that she wouldn't.

Leviathan began to growl softly at the body that was forming.  She had gone to sit beside Tasha and would not budge from there unless ordered to or she felt that Seleen or De'Ryanna were in immanent danger.  But she didn't have to like that man being present.  She just had to behave herself.

There had been no indication of movement from her, yet he told her to stay anyway.  The nerve of that man, speaking to her as if she were nothing more than an animal.  She was more, just as De'Ryanna was more, just as he was more.  All one had to do was look at her as she stood there naked to the world with her red hair lightly blowing in the hint of a breeze to know that she was more than just an animal.

She continued to watch as Benjamin kept his word.  He seemed to be slightly emotional about it, but it was hard to tell for sure from the angle from which Tasha was viewing the matter.  Could it be possible that Benjamin did care about something other than himself? Had Tasha been wrong about that?  She spared a glance to Seleen to see if there was any help in understanding coming from her.  But she looked right back to Benjamin to continue to watch.

She heard his words, but didn't understand them at all.  She wasn't even sure what language he was speaking.  The aura that followed his words shone bright, but Tasha didn't look away.  She had looked into fire before, this wasn't much different.

She remained silent when he laid De'Ryanna down for her to watch what he was doing.  She had seen life restored before, she had even been a part of helping to do so once, but it never seemed to take anything away from Venis to do it the way it seemed to do to Benjamin now.  If Tasha had to venture a guess, she would have said that he had given part of his life force to De'Ryanna.  At least, that was how it seemed to her as she was only an observer.

He kissed her and it made Tasha think of those old Fairy Tales from Earth, Snow White or Sleeping Beauty.  They were awakened by true loves kiss.  It wasn't that she thought that Benjamin was De'Ryanna's true love.  But the scene was similar to the ones in the animated movies she had seen.

Leviathan had remained sitting beside Tasha the entire time.  She had remained silent as well.  But she still wanted that man gone, and if Tasha hadn't been petting her head, she might have tried to attack him.  He was a bad man, and Levi knew it.

When he rose, he kept his back to them.  When Tasha heard his voice, she had to wonder if the keeping of his back to them was to hide the play of emotion across his face.  For he sounded truly saddened by the events that had unfolded. "Thank you Benjamin."  Her voice was soft, without even so much as a hint of growl or undertone of any kind.  The words she had spoken seemed so insufficient, but she lacked the ability to express her gratitude any better at that moment.  She decided that she would heed his words.  He spoke them with such sincerity.  So she waited.

To save a life (Open to those with a reason to be in that area) Empty Re: To save a life (Open to those with a reason to be in that area)

Post by Lt. Seleen Darkite Thu Nov 14, 2013 6:37 pm

Seleen listened to everything that was said, both before and after the man formed.  When he formed before her eyes, like some genie taking a corporeal form, both of her guns were swung to face in his direction.  She was loaded for lycanthrope, just as Tasha had asked.  Which meant that the silver tipped bullets also contained silver nitrate in them.  Neither Seleen nor Tasha knew that silver wouldn't do them much good against Benjamin.

She kept her guns trained on him, having not gotten the word from Tasha to back down or to fire.  She followed his movements with her hands as she continued to aim at him.  Unless Tasha said one way or another, this would be Seleen's stance.  Silent and, presumably, deadly.

When Tasha looked at her, all Seleen could do was shrug.  She had no idea what was going on either.  She knew about as much as Tasha did.  She knew that he was a bad man and that he was a lycanthrope, werewolf to be exact.  And she also knew that Venis found him very attractive.  Which he was.  But just like Tasha, Seleen couldn't understand why Venis was so fascinated by him.

As Benjamin continued to help De'Ryanna, Seleen started to feel a little silly standing there with her guns pointed at him.  But until Tasha said otherwise, that was where her guns would stay.  After all, he could have a change of heart and attack them at any moment.  But he did seem to be a little more saddened by things than anything else.  Which perplexed Seleen.

She would glance around with only her eyes for a moment here and a moment there.  And she was listening for other sounds that could signal someone's approach from the woods around them.  She saw and heard nothing.  It was almost eery being so quiet.

After Tasha thanked him, Seleen nearly took her guns off of Benjamin.  But she thought better of it.  It was, after all, better to be safe than sorry.  She would wait until he was gone out of site before she would lower her weapons.  There was no harm in simply standing there holding them.

Satisfied that they were going to do what he instructed, Benjamin left the scene.  There was something to which he needed to attend.

Post by Ryanna Wed Dec 11, 2013 8:45 pm

There was nothing.

Nothing to see or hear.  There was nothing to feel or smell. In the Nothing there is darkness and in darkness is where everything first began. This was no different.

In this darkness was born a speck of light and, though it was no bigger than the head of a needle, its light was so bright that it dwarfed the blackness around it. As the darkness gave way the light grew in strength, growing bigger with each passing moment until it shared equal space.

De'Ryanna Ayabara was now there, and she was looking at the two sides, feeling very lost. Looking at either side was like watching a playback of her life.  The good things she saw on the light said, and the bad things were on the dark.  Needless to say that the playback on the light side was not as long, and soon she noticed that she was seeing the same images there as she had before.  It did not show everything.... these were all things that took place after she had fallen asleep in the cave.  It seemed so long ago. Honestly she couldn't say how long it had been, even looking at the images she couldn't gage the time. De'Ryanna knew that it had been a while.

Some images on the light side did not make sense until she saw the corresponding images on the dark but, as a whole, she wasn't' sure that she liked what she saw. De'Ryanna felt very small and exposed and she crotched down to cover herself, curling into a ball. I don't know how to fix the things that I have done, she thought. How can I face anyone now?

Perhaps things would have been easier for her to take it, if she had seen the things that the images did not show - like what happened to the people she did actions against.  If she knew what happened after she died.  But there were no pictures of that.  A person cannot have a memory of something that they did not see.

She closed her eyes, and that is how she stayed. The light that she received from Benjamin slowly began to fade, and De'Ryanna began to stir from where she was placed upon the ground. She felt the wind blow against her skin, but she wasn't cold. She heard the sounds of nature and smelled the presence of others not too far away.  De'Ryanna sat up slowly and opened her eyes.
